July 27th meeting

We had a lively conversation on our book:  The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.

Sherrie provided the book selections for our next meeting on July 27. 

The group chose: Pigs in Heaven, by Barbara Kingsolver.  Remember Turtle, from The Bean Trees?  This is another book about her. This book was on the New York Times Bestseller list for 18 weeks! (Not necessarily an indication of a good book, but worth noting...)  And here is a brief description: 

Six-year-old Turtle Greer witnesses a freak accident at the Hoover Dam, leading to a man's dramatic rescue. But Turtle's moment of celebrity draws her into a crisis of historical proportions that will envelop not only her and her mother, Taylor, but everyone else who touched their lives in a complex web connecting their future with their past.

Also:  Please remember to call one of us if you aren't going to make the meeting. There were a couple of folks absent this past week and we missed you.

           

• We worry about you, if we don't hear from you.
• We also delay the meeting start waiting for you.  Which I'm sure you'll agree is inconsiderate of the folks who are here at 7:00 and those who work the next day. 
• The calendar is tricky when the first Friday falls on a short first week.as it did this month.  

This is the BEST book group ever.   We have formed friendships and bonds through

the stories we share. So -- see you on the 27th !!
