April 26th meeting

This month we will be reading I Still Dream About You, by Fannie Flagg. Amazon.com says this about this book:
Meet Maggie Fortenberry, a still beautiful former Miss Alabama. To others, Maggie’s life seems practically perfect—she’s lovely, charming, and a successful agent at Red Mountain Realty. Still, Maggie can’t help but wonder how she wound up living a life so different from the one she dreamed of as a child. But just when things seem completely hopeless, and the secrets of Maggie’s past drive her to a radical plan to solve it all, Maggie discovers, quite by accident, that everybody, it seems, has at least one little secret.

I Still Dream About You
is a wonderful novel that is equal parts southern charm, murder mystery, and that perfect combination of comedy and old-fashioned wisdom that can be served up only by America’s own remarkable Fannie Flagg.

Fannie Flagg is best known for the 1988 novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, which was adapted into the 1991 movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Flagg was nominated for an Academy Award for the screenplay adaptation. She was also a semi-regular panelist on the 1973–82 versions of the game show Match Game, and appeared in a number of movies, including Grease and Five Easy Pieces. An interesting note: Flagg has said she was enormously challenged as a writer because she "was severely dyslexic and couldn't spell, still can't spell. So I was discouraged from writing and embarrassed".

I Still Dream About You is her most recent novel.

Sheila will lead the discussion and Fran will bring our next book selections.

It is our 14th anniversary -- I looked it up and traditionally, that is the ivory anniversary. hmmm... Anyway, Kim will be our hostess. If she has any requests fror us to help make our anniversary celebration special, she will let us know.

See you there!
