December 2010 meeting

Can you believe it! An update the same night as the book group meeting!

We are reading A Death in the Family, by James Agee. Current count in Contra Costa County library is 9 on the shelf (of 3 different editions).

Our next meeting will be the THIRD Friday of December - Friday, December 17th

Rachel will be leading the discussion,
Lisa will bring our next selections,
and Sherrie will bring refreshments.

See y'all there, and here's another surprise, after MONTHS (and may I say you all are very patient and kind not to nag me about it), the website is up-to-date:

November 2010 Book Group Meeting

For next month, we are reading The Postmistress by Sara Blake.

There appear to be quite a few in the Contra Costa Library. I just put myself on the hold list, and I am 2nd in line. It appears that if you get yourself in the queue, you should have a copy in time to read it for the meeting.

Ah, the meeting -- Don't forget it is not the FOURTH Friday, but the THIRD Friday, November 19th. This is to avoid the Thanksgiving week. I will make every effort to remind everyone 2 weeks before, and then 1 week before the meeting.

Let's see...

Lisa is our hostess, Rachel will bring the next selections, and Brooke will be our facilitatress.

See you all there next month!

Maybe I will expend some effort and get the website back up-to-date.

August 2010 meeting

Our August meeting will be on Friday, August 27, 2010, and please take note: We will be meeting at Kim's house! Her address is 56 Millthwaite, Martinez. I will send a map halfway though the month.

This month we will be reading Run, by Ann Patchett. This might be the first author that we have "triple-played".
August 2002 we read Bel Canto
September 2005 we read Patron Saint of Liars

Interesting fact: We have read more than one book of SIX authors, or SEVEN if you count the two books of John Steinbeck we read in one month.

But I digress...

Kim will facilitate our discussion,
Denise will bring food, and
Donna will bring September's book selections

I counted up the number of available copies of Run, by Ann Patchett, and lost count. I think there are 25 in the Contra Costa Library system. Both hardback and paperback are available from Amazon starting at $2.

See you in August! Good reading.
